Fuse
The high voltage side of Pre-installed American Box Type Substation is equipped with comprehensive protection via a series of backup and plug-in fuses, ensuring simplicity in design while being both economical and dependable. The backup protection fuse is an oil-immersed high-voltage current-limiting solution with significant breaking capacity. Should an internal transformer fault occur, the plug-in fuse employs a dual-sensitive mechanism, offering dual protection against current and temperature. Replacement of the fuse core is straightforward and manageable on site, following the dual-sensitive fuse activation.
Structure and operation sequence

1. The layout

For the shape and structure of 10kV ZBW-12 Pre-installed American Box Type Substationis detailed in Figure 2 and Figure 3. The oil tank is ingeniously partitioned into an upper high-voltage section and a lower transformer section, interconnected electrically yet isolated by an oil barrier. Figure 1 illustrates the schematic: 'I' and 'I' lines represent loop network feeders, 'll' indicates transformer branches, while 'V' signifies low-voltage output. This versatility allows the substation's use in both ring network supply systems and terminal systems, with seamless conversion possibilities. Line and 'l' branch feed switching are managed through the ring network load switch. Additionally, the high-voltage side of the transformer is fortified with backup and plug-in fuses to mitigate short-circuit failures and provide overload and over-temperature protection for the branch. Optional high-voltage displays and lightning arresters offer further security. The transformer's low-voltage output is processed through a meter and a low-voltage circuit breaker.

Encased in a fully sealed structure, these transformers expertly shield against air pollution and moisture-induced insulation degradation. The inclusion of an air cushion (40-90mm) at the oil tank's apex, along with the ingenious corrugated tank design, enhances heat dissipation and maintains optimal internal pressure, ensuring robust and reliable performance.

1. Backup Protection Fuse

Ingeniously integrated with a plug-in fuse in the transformer branch (see R1 and R2 in Figure 2), this full-range protection fuse stands ready to activate exclusively during internal short-circuit faults within the substation. Its precise design ensures a low probability of unnecessary activation. Housed in the upper oil tank, this component requires the tank to be accessed for updates, highlighting its strategic and thoughtful placement.
 

1. Plug-in Fuse

Equipped with a dual sensitivity melting core attuned to both temperature and current, this plug-in fuse is engineered to respond promptly to load-side malfunctions, such as overloads or undue heating. In seamless conjunction with the backup protection fuse, it secures comprehensive coverage across the current spectrum, from minor surges to substantial fluctuations, with a formidable maximum breaking capacity of 50kA.
The symbiotic calibration of the backup fuse and plug-in fuse significantly influences the substation's operational excellence.
