Fuse
The high voltage side of Pre-installed American Box Type Substation features comprehensive protection thanks to an ingenious series connection of backup protection fuses and plug-in fuses. This simple yet effective system is both economical and reliable. The backup fuse is an oil-immersed high-voltage current-limiting type with significant breaking capacity. If the transformer experiences internal failure, the plug-in fuse, equipped with a dual-sensitive mechanism, doubles as both current and temperature protector. Post-blowout, the fuse core is effortlessly replaced on site.
Structure and operation sequence

1. The layout

For the distinctive configuration and structure of our 10kV ZBW-12 Pre-installed American Box Type Substation, refer to Figures 2 and 3. The innovative design includes a dual-section oil tank: the upper section houses the high-voltage oil, while the lower section contains the transformer oil, remaining electrically connected but oil-separated for enhanced safety. The schematic in Figure 1 illustrates the configuration: 'I' and 'I' lines serve as loop network feeders; 'll' branches support transformer connections; 'V' indicates low-voltage output. Our substations seamlessly integrate into both ring network and terminal systems, facilitating effortless conversion. Line and 'l' branch feeds are managed by a ring network load switch. Furthermore, the high-voltage transformer side is equipped with backup protection and plug-in fuses to guard against short-circuit faults, overloads, and overheating. Optional high-voltage display devices and lightning arresters enhance protection, while the low-voltage transformer end outputs securely through a meter and circuit breaker.

KEXR Pre-installed American Box Type Substation Our latest innovation, the S9 and S11 series three-phase oil-flooded transformers, offer cutting-edge features that set them apart in the industry. These transformers boast remarkably low no-load losses, maintain minimal temperature rise, operate with whisper-quiet acoustics, and are engineered for a reduced height. They outshine their predecessor, the original S9 transformer, by achieving lower no-load and load losses, positioning them at the pinnacle of current domestic standards. Engineered with a fully sealed structure, these transformers provide excellent protection against air pollution and prevent insulation degradation from moisture. The oil tank's top includes a strategically designed air cushion ranging from 40-90mm, which collaborates with the oil tank shell's corrugations to enhance heat dissipation and cooling, thereby significantly reducing internal pressure.

1. Backup Protection Fuse

The backup protection fuse is strategically integrated in series with the plug-in fuse within the transformer branch, as detailed in Figure 2 (R1 and R2). This configuration forms a comprehensive protective barrier. Its design ensures that it activates exclusively during internal substation short-circuit faults, resulting in an exceptionally low likelihood of activation. For updates, note that it is installed within the upper oil tank, requiring the oil tank to be accessed for modifications.
 

1. Plug-in Fuse

This fuse features a dual-sensitive melting core that responds to both temperature and current variations, ensuring it activates when facing load side failures, such as overloads or excessive heat. Combined in series with the backup protection fuse, this configuration safeguards the entire spectrum, from minute currents to substantial currents reaching up to 50kA. It provides formidable protection across a wide current range.
The harmonious pairing of the backup and plug-in fuses is crucial to optimizing the substation's overall performance.
